Dies Irae
Valerian Helms, or The Firestorm as his people have named him, was the previous Chevalier and kept his title for over three hundred years. He was good friends with the past king Theodore, father of Nicholas, and was married to Grace Fletcher to which they had a son. Known for his strength and ferocity during battle, Valerian had lead nearly all battles he'd fought to victory, most being to protect the eastern borders from Human clans and greedy Aractora armadas. Although he was known for his fierceness and bloodlust, off the battlefield he was cold and stern towards those he didn't know personally or thought less of. But towards his men, friends, and family, he showed a deep and passionate connection to and would make it clear through banter or compassion. Before his death in The Siege of The Veiled Basin, Valerian would be seen teaching the next generation the art of swordfights and strategic planning and leading battalions to protect the outer villages of Aenerian Territory. After his death, his role would be open to whoever won The Trial Of The Chevalier and his belongings, such as his hat and rapiers, would be passed down to his son, Fredrick Helms.
